Madge drops Britney from ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour over biblical bust-up

Queen of pop Madonna has dumped pop princess Britney Spears from a forthcoming live spot on her Sticky & Sweet tour over religious matters. Madge, 50, was so displeased with Spears for dropping the Kabbalah religion that she immediately terminated the latter’s involvement with the tour. “Madonna is dismayed that Britney has just dropped Kabbalah,” News of the World quoted a source as saying. “She’s always believed it is a way of life, not just something to pick up and get rid of on a whim.

“Madonna doesn’t feel she can work with Britney any more because they’re just not aligned on a spiritual level,” the source added.

Spears was due to join Madonna on stage for a live duet as part of the US leg of her tour. (ANI)

Alba, who had married Warren in an intimate ceremony earlier this year, is now planning on having a lavish ceremony next month for her friends and family, the China Daily reports.

And for the occasion, the Fantastic Four star has ordered a stunning custom-made off-white Chanel dress trimmed with lace.

“Jessica first wanted to wear a traditional gown with a veil, but then she changed her mind because she thought it would be over the top,” a source said.

“Instead she chose a dress that could pass as a wedding gown but also work for a formal event, like the Oscars,” the source added.

Jessica Alba blames press for ruining her wedding announcement

American actress Jessica Alba has accused the media for ruining her 2008 wedding to Cash Warren, after they reported it before she was able to tell her parents.

Alba, 27, and Cash had wed in a low-key ceremony at the Beverly Hills Courthouse in Los Angeles on May 19, just weeks before Alba gave birth to the couple’’s first child, daughter Honor Marie.

The actress was devastated when the news of her wedding leaked, and her parents found out from a journalist.

“The person who helped us sign the documents told the press that day, so my parents found out from a reporter before we got to tell them. We were planning to take them out to dinner and tell them, but that got ruined,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Elle magazine.

“(I was) More hurt, probably, than anything. It’’s not the first time something like that has happened. Journalists feel entitled to do whatever it takes to get a sensational story, no matter how it affects the person involved. We”re not really people, right? We”re just celebrities,” she added.

Not the fact that, despite her current status as a favorite, the hard-luck six-time nominee won’t win this go-round because Time magazine ruined her chances by putting her on its cover today with the line “Best Actress.” No, I mean the fact that none of her leading men opposite her nominated performances has ever been nominated himself. David Carr and Entertainment Weekly, pay attention!

The curse arguably began in 1998, when Winslet was nominated as best actress for Titanic while co-star Leonardo DiCaprio was ignored to the dismay of the movie’s young female fans. (Winslet had received a best supporting actress nomination in 1996 for Sense and Sensibility, but no one likely expected a nomination for Alan Rickman, her less-than-dashing leading man in that film, Alan Rickman.)
Consider the subsequent history:

2002: Winlset is nominated as best supporting actress for playing the young Iris Murdoch in Iris while Hugh Bonneville, the actor who played Murdoch’s young husband, is not recognized. (Jim Broadbent wins an Oscar for playing the husband as an older man opposite Judi Dench as an older Murdoch, a role for which Dench is nominated but does not win.)

2005: Winslet is nominated as best actress for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Miind; Jim Carrey, playing her boyfriend, is snubbed.

2007: Winslet is nominated as best actress for Little Children; Patrick Wilson, who plays the neighbor Winslet’s character has an affair with, and Gregg Edelamn, who plays her husband, are both overlooked. (Jackie Earle Haley, who plays a child molester but shares almost no scenes with Winslet, gets a best supporting actor nomination.)

2009: Winslet is nominated for best actress for The Reader; neither David Kross, who plays her teenage lover, nor Ralph Fiennes, who plays the lover as a middle-aged man, is nominated. DiCaprio, who plays Winslet’s husband in her other big film this Oscar season, Revolutionary Road, is once again snubbed as well, although since Winslet’s performance in the film is also left unhonored, this may not count as an example of the Curse.

It should be noted that in 2005 Johnny Depp was nominated for Best Actor as J.M. Barrie opposite Winslet in Finding Neverland, but the relationship between their characters was platonic. Memo to big-time actors: don’t “do it” onscreen with Kate Winslet.

Which is why, though Jolie is an outstanding actress, she’s a more outstanding celebrity. It’s not that she becomes the character—it’s that the character becomes her. Disturbed youth (Girl, Interrupted), wild child (Gia), humanitarian (Beyond Borders), married (sort of) to Brad Pitt (Mr. & Mrs. Smith).
